Downtown Infrastructure Rehabilitation

Downtown Infrastructure Rehabilitation

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

This project involved the replacement of aging watermain infrastructure within Saskatoon’s downtown core, alongside extensive roadway and sidewalk/curb surface upgrades across several primary streets. The work required adherence to stringent timelines, which were successfully achieved to minimize disruption and ensure the continued success of local businesses. HAMM crews completed the installation of temporary water systems, PVC watermains, and numerous complex service connections to historic buildings in the downtown area. Detailed traffic accommodation plans were implemented to ensure the safety of the public, including pedestrians and motorists, while maintaining accessibility to local businesses throughout the project. Specific scopes of work included:

  • Installed 747 meters of 150 to 300mm diameter PVC watermain
  • Installation of extensive temporary water systems to supply large building with potable water during all phases of construction
  • Tight schedules maintained by HAMM crews to minimize disruption to downtown businesses
  • Large volume of high risk utilities such as natural gas and power lines crossed safely
